Well, if there's one bump in the road to prolong one's absence from updating their Weight Loss blog, it would definitely be emergency surgery.

That's correct -- on Tuesday, July 26th, I went to the E.R. with mom to investigate in pain in my lower right side. For those interested, I had an appendectomy but it was the more in-evasive procedure so I've bounced back pretty well in the past two weeks. I went back to work after staying home for a week. I had my only post-operation check up last Friday, the doctor was pleased with my recovery, so all good things.

Of course this has put a pause on my work-out regimen. However, my diet has surprisingly stayed on track with great luck. The week after my surgery I decided to 'take a break' from counting points but I didn't splurge too much. I went back to Weight Watchers and attended my usual Tuesday night meeting after being away for two weeks. I lost 4.8lbs in those two weeks! It's exciting that I'm staying on track with my 2.4lbs/week lost average at this point! It's like my winning streak for my weight loss journey. :)

I also promised myself to buy a monthly pass, which I love thus far. I've saved about $12 this week by opting for the monthly pass, which nearly one week's meeting ($13/week for members who pay week-to-week). I'm also thoroughly enjoying full access to the iPhone app! There's so many convenient features, especially the extensive product listing. The only qualm I have about the app is the elusive menu to track your daily health guidelines. If I didn't forget about them before, then I definitely forget about them now.

Anyways, that's enough of an update for me. I'll hopefully be stopping by again on Wednesday update about my weight progress for the week. Then I'll make certain to post on Saturday a fresh topic!

So, I've had my iPhone alarm going off for the past 2 hours as I've been trying immensely hard to brain-storm what to write about in my Weight Loss blog aside from the semi-weekly progress report. Lo and behold, I've still got nothing! So, I'm going to do a food bragging post about a company that's doing great things. I'm completely obsessed with their products but if I was chocolate-aholic prior to my Weight Loss journey, then I'd probably have this food all the time.

Without further ado, I share with YOU, blog-readers, a secret. I have two food weaknesses: CHOCOLATE and CHEESE (though not together, thanks). I've learned to compensate for both without completely cutting them out of my diet as this journey isn't about depriving myself. I'll save cheese for another post but for now I want to spread the word of SKINNY COW!

You may have heard of Skinny Cow products before. They started out with delicious, low-calorie ice sandwiches.

My mom and I were in love with the mint ice cream sandwiches years ago, particularly around Christmastime! They're delicious and have all of the flavor you could have in any regular ice cream sandwich WITHOUT all of the extra calories.

Then, a few months ago after starting my new weight loss program, I discovered that they had developed ice cream bars!

Who doesn't love Cookies & Cream ice cream?! It's definitely one of my favorite ice creams so discovering that the company that brought me mint ice cream sandwiches now made equally delicious ice cream bars was heaven! My mom even found a flavor that she liked (Chocolate Truffle), so we were both happy campers in our first few weeks of the weight loss journey.

A few weeks after that I learned that Skinny Cow was in the process of selling chocolate! It was out of nowhere but I found the Heavenly Crisp chocolate bar and Dream Clusters chocolate pieces at a local convenience store.

Now you can buy these in BULK!! Plus, I've been finding coupons for their new products at gas stations such as Wawa.

These products are incredibly delectable and I've recommended them to fellow weight loss buddies. :D I haven't tried all of their ice cream items but I'm looking forward to tasting their single-serving flavors once I'm in the mood for them. So, if you're a chocolate or ice cream die-hard out there but hoping to loose weight -- never fear! Skinny Cow is here to make you proud to say moo. ;)

Feel free to check out Skinny Cow's website for more tasty items! :D

***Please note that PointsPlus points may or may not be accurate and up to date with Weight Watcher's new PlusPoints system. Also, I've borrowed the images directly from skinnycow.com. I hope I don't get sued!

I lost another 2.4lbs this week and I'll take it! Actually, I've lost about 2.4lbs for the past few weeks as it stands. I can't complain though because it's still a lost and as this rate I'll continue to lose about 10lbs/month. I've constantly lost weight for 11 weeks (with 1 week when I maintained), so I'm down 31.6lbs.

I'm still not updating this journal like I'd like to be. There's so much I'd love to share about my weight loss journey. Tips and tricks I've learned to keep me from feeling deprived.

Alas, I joined a gym 2 weeks ago and that's been keeping me busy. I feel like I have no time anymore! I've fallen behind on watching my regular weekly TV shows and I'm not reading as quickly as I was before in a new book series I've discovered. So, unfortunately that puts this weight loss blog on the back burner.

I'd like to change that though. From now, I'm going to make it a goal to post at least ONCE on Saturday or Sunday. I'll set an alarm on my phone or something to remind myself to do as such. Maybe from there we'll see if I can increase how often I post here.

So with that, I'll leave you with this thought:

This is about PROGRESS, not perfection!

So, I realize that it's been far too long since I've updated about my weight loss journey. Many apologies -- I'm still not used to maintaining and updating two journals, even if they are on separate blogging sites.

I think the reason why I lost momentum was because I had a week where I maintained. I think this threw me aback because the previous week I had lost over 2lbs and that was a birthday week where I celebrated by going out to restaurants for several meals all while counting points still. Then the week I maintained I ate salads for lunch most of the week and didn't change up much in my day-to-day diet.

The first few hours after I found out I had maintained my weight for the week, I was admittedly disappointed. Then I remembered that I couldn't let me get to me and I had re-evaluate my diet to see what I needed to change and what I was doing wrong. Turns out that I wasn't getting in all of my healthy guidelines nor was I tracking my power foods. Just changing those two things, I was able to get back on the losing wagon because I lost another 2.4lbs that week.

However, that doesn't compare to this past week. I had my weigh-in last and I lost (*drumroll*) 5.2LBS!!! This was my second best week since my first week (which is most people's best week as you apparently lose all your 'water weight'.) Let's not forget that this past weekend was a holiday weekend. Even though I ate out a mexican restaurant last Thursday, I tried to hoarde all of my points for the Fourth of July. I went to a friend's house for a barbeque where her mom is known for her AMAZING cooking/baking skills. I honestly splurged a bit. I had a s'more, a cupcake, 2 small cookies, and 2 brownie bites. They were delicious.

So I really have no idea how I lost 5.2lbs this past week. I did up my exercise on Saturday to gain some extra activity points. I used my Wii Fit for an hour and then I jumped in the pool for another half hour. I worked out just about every day except for one (Friday). I suppose the working out helped.

I've also been trying to cut out processed foods. I've eaten maybe two or three Smart Ones in the past week compared to my sometimes 3-5 I used to eat. That's probably another thing that helped.

Also, smoothies have become a token in my house for breakfast. One cup of milk plus two types of fruit and you've got yourself a delicious 2-point breakfast! (Add in 1 oil and you've hit 4 of your daily healthy guidelines!)

Who knows, I may only maintain next week. I'd be okay with that after this epic weight loss in one week. (Or worse -- maybe the receptionist weight the scale wrong. ;~;)

Anyways, I'll definitely work harder to update this weight loss blog more often. I hope you all doing well in your weight loss journeys or even just life in general. ♥

I'll leave you with my current up-to-date statistics.

Starting Weight: 242.6lbs
Current Weight: 215.8lbs
Total Weight Loss: 26.8lbs
heytherepandabear: (Weight Loss ♦ Salad!)
If you're anything like me then you're not a big fan of salads. I've just never been satisfied by a leafy meal for any time of the day. It's not a seemingly filling meal plus I've hated a majority of the vegetables they put in the salads.

However since joining Weight Watchers I've learn to adapt and have realized something very important. You can cater salads to individual tastes. You add more desirable flavors and take away items that you just can't ever seem to like.

So with that, I'd like to share my 4 point salad of the day for my lunch at work! It's not much but I'm hoping that it's filling and satisfying enough for me. :)

[0 pts] = Romaine lettuce
[1 pts] = 1/4 cup of Reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese
[2 pts] = Small can (1/2 cup) of light tuna (in vegetable oil!)
[1 pts] = 1 Tbsp of light mayo
[0 pts] = Diced tomatoes
[0 pts] = Shredded carrots

I would have also added some fat-free Italian dressing but I forgot it at home! I primarily made this 4 point salad because I just learned the other day that I've gone from having 36 daily points to 34! So I had to adjust my lunch was averaging about 12-14 points to something less. However, today this lunch will be well under my lunch time point goal so I want to add some things to it.

What do YOU like to add to your salad? Nuts? Meat? Unlikely salad toppings? Crackers? Feel free to share! I'm interested in your input. :)
